Built in 1980 roughly 50 miles southwest of Mexico City near Toluca, this cultural centre celebrates the heritage of the Otomi people, one of Mexico's oldest indigenous groups, with monumental stone sculptures and ceremonial architecture set into the surrounding pine forest landscape.
Appears in Licence to Kill as the exterior of the fictional Olympiatec Meditation Institute, the front for Sanchez's drug laboratory, used heavily throughout the film's climactic final act as Bond infiltrates the site.
The institute's interiors were filmed separately at Estudios Churubusco in Mexico City, a detail confirmed by cast member <a href="https://www.actuacionparacine.mx" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="color:var(--gold); text-decoration:underline;">Alejandro Bracho</a>, who played henchman Perez in the film. Licence to Kill was the first Bond film not to use Pinewood Studios at all.
